A Candidate Handbook and Examination Content Outline can be found on the Pearson Vue website. The examination fee of $92.00 includes the $50.00 State of Illinois administrative fee.
After the candidate successfully completes the public adjuster examination, the applicant can submit application for a new public adjuster license through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).
The $250.00 license fee is required to be paid through electronic funds transfer at the time of application.
At the time of application, the applicant is required to submit through the NIPR Warehouse the following supplemental documents:
Failure to attach the required documents to the NIPR warehouse at the time of application will result in in rejection of the application due to incomplete submission. Fees will not be refundable. Please make sure all documents are uploaded to the NIPR Warehouse immediately after completing your application in NIPR.
Before a Public Adjuster license may be issued the Public Adjuster applicant must be fingerprinted by an Illinois approved live scan vendor. No license will be issued until the Department receives the results from the Illinois State Police and the FBI.
IMPORTANT! You cannot enter into a contract with an insured until the contract is approved by the Illinois Department of Insurance and the license has been issued. The contract approval and issuance of the license are two separate processes. Please make sure you have verification of both approvals prior to entering into a contract with an insured.
