Position Summary: The Senior Director for the Collaborative School Model (Bronx Plan) will oversee citywide field support to Borough/Citywide Offices (B/COs) in the implementation of the Collaborative School Model at schools in the Bronx and other parts of the city participating in this initiative. In alignment with the Chancellor’s goals, the Division of the First Deputy Chancellor provides leadership, support, strategic guidance, and oversight to Executive Superintendents in the implementation of NYC Department of Education (DOE) policies, programs, and initiatives to support schools in providing an equitable and excellent education for all students. This position will partner with senior leaders from Central divisions that are managing the Collaborative School Model to expand opportunities for hard-to-staff schools in targeted areas across the city to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.

The Senior Director for the Collaborative School Model will be responsible for operationalizing and scaling the initiative, creating cultures of high performance at participating schools, and implementing all aspects of the Collaborative School Model initiative. The Senior Director supervises and manages the operations activities and provides support services, advocacy, and strategic planning to execute this collaboration model between the DOE and United Federation of Teachers (UFT) to support school communities in improving student achievement. Also, the Senior Director supports this work in a variety of ways, including providing implementation, oversight, and coordination of projects; development of internal processes and procedures for all project planning; engagement in quantitative/data analysis; engagement with key stakeholders internally and externally; and completion of all pertinent administrative tasks and reports for the DOE and City Hall. Additionally, the Senior Director for the Collaborative School Model provides high-level project management and technical assistance to leadership and spearheads cross-divisional team work focused on strategy and implementation. Performs related work.

Key Relationships : Primary relationships include the D ivision of Human Capital, Executive Superintendents, Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Offices, Collaborative Schools Central Committee, Division of Teaching and Learning (DT&L), Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support (DSISS), Special Education Office (SEO), Division of Multilingual Learners (DML).

Responsibilities

· Develops priorities and facilitates the implementation of the Collaborative School Model initiative at schools in the Bronx and other parts of the city participating in this initiative.

· Functions as a partner to Central Divisions, Executive Superintendents and B/CO EDs in the development and rollout of a strategic plan to expand opportunities for hard-to-staff schools in targeted areas across the city to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.

· Creates and facilitate professional development activities for principals and B/CO leaders on how to implement a Collaborative School Model for effective instruction and instructional support across content areas and student populations.

· Manages implementation of all aspects of the Collaborative Schools Model initiative, including recruitment of schools; school application process; development of public-facing materials; onboarding schools into the initiative; logistics and event planning for major events; progress monitoring and tracking efforts; obtaining and managing contracts for various aspects of the program; communications with schools, UFT, and DOE Central and Field staff; and other duties as they arise.

· Develops guides and facilitate critical meetings of the Central Committee for the Collaborative School Model; arrange, attend and produce summaries of all key meetings.

· Assists in the compilation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative information and reports regarding strategic priorities, applicable projects, and emerging issues related to Collaborative Schools.

· Supports the Division of the First Deputy Chancellor in planning, evaluating, presenting, and implementing projects involving multiple public and private stakeholders involved in the Collaborative School Model.

· Provides oversight, management, and coordination of key Central and DFDC initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Division of the First Deputy Chancellor and in partnership with designated BCO staff.

· Conducts research and prepares written analyses, reports, and presentations of assigned project activities.

· Examines and develops internal practices to inform project management, office procedures, etc.

· Manage, coordinate, and perform a wide variety of operational and administrative support activities on behalf of the Chief Administrator, including handling procurement transactions associated with facilitators and partners supporting the work of the Central Committee for the Collaborative School Model and the implementation of this initiative at participating schools.

· Provides coaching and technical assistance to Collaborative School Model initiative facilitators in partnership with UFT, BCO leadership, school leaders and Central partners.

· Advises leadership; provides recommendations on how to increase system-wide capacity to support teaching and learning; participates in team, office, and cross-divisional leadership meetings; provides key input for decision-making.

· Represents DFDC during high-level policy development and decision-making processes; provide supports, resources, and tools to B/CO teams to implement policy and protocols that are in the best interests of students and communities.

· Addresses high-priority, confidential situations and handles confidential data with the highest level of professional discretion and independent judgment.

· Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the Collaborative School Model in building capacity and increasing the efficacy of school operations, strategy, and instruction for special populations.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum

Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL). Please Note: We do not accept internship certificates.

Preferred

· Knowledge of building service-oriented relationships and providing consultative support.

· Familiarity with administrative and support functions at the DOE.

· Knowledge of Special Education and MLL/ ELL instructional programs, their eligibility criteria, general program goals and related services, and impartial hearings.

· Experience managing and collaborating with teams.

· Experience working in or with New York City public schools.

· School leadership experience

· Possesses strong teamwork and consensus-making practices

· Commitment to the success of all NYC students.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through.

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, and SharePoint.

· Project management experience, with a record of accomplishment in leading significant cross-functional initiatives in diverse and complex organizational settings.

· Time management skills, especially when handling multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

· Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and editing skills.

· Fine-tuned problem-solving and analytical skills.

Salary: $129,014+
